Saw these poignant poems on the Net and decided to post it here. The authors are anomymous, but they essentially captured the great sacrifices that soldiers do to remain loyal to the flag and to the people. filipino leaders could certainly learn a thing or two from our warriors who serve our country with little pay, live in very spartan conditions and get little respect and appreciation from the public.

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves under the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

"And when the taps shall sound for me
Banners drape my last remains
Let singing comrades bury me
To the echo of these strains".

"For hearts will live and die for Thee
Forever live in Thee
Young blood shall come to carry on
When too old strong hearts are gone.

"Strong Hearts"...

you've done your part...
you've laid your life so that others may live...
though no people may remember how
you live your life in service to our nation...
we will always be grateful for what you've done
rest my comrade..
to the place where no sound of gun will be heard
where silence speaks the eloquence of peace
we've trying to pursue...
dying is not the end of the beginning
rather it is the beginning of a new life..
where there is no sadness, no crying, no dying
and no more war andfighting... as the saying goes..
"to die is torest" now it's our turn to carry
on the life inservice to our nation.. you've done your part
rest my friend... rest...
