When Two Bad Dudes Collide

No, I am not referring to the confrontation between Uncle Sam - the world's resident Bad Boy if you don't agree to its whims and Iran - the newest Bad Boy in the Middle East - over nuke proliferation. I am referring to the war between two of fieldom's baddest dudes - the Predator of - well - Predator fame - and Aliens again of Aliens fame. Both creatures are the fiercest killers ever to be created by Hollywood.
I happened to watch the film "Aliens versus Predator" and I admit that I felt shortchanged over the dearth of action. It seemed that the the icons of bloodbath had a bigger challenge when they were paired off with puny humans than when they were chosen to fight each other with a small band of humans as "collateral damage." The story revolves around how the two beasts share a common history, rather than a commom enemy in man. It turned out that the Predators - a warrior race - made frequent stops on our planet eons ago for some rest and recreation. They used early humans as hosts for their prey- the Aliens - and the fun begins when the Aliens "hatch," mature and hunted down by the warfreak Predators.
But plans turned awry and the Aliens overwhelmed a trio of Predators with the last hunter setting off a mini-nuke explosion with the self-destruct on his wrist. The Predators left Earth for some adventure elsewhere until a band of explorers stumbled on a pyramid entombed in thick ice. To make a long story short, the Aliens got the humans first, made them hosts and multiplied, enough to decimate a team of Predators sent to wipe out both the expedition and Aliens. And in a twist, the last Predator to be killed was taken aboard his mothership. It turned out that he was infected and the Aliens made its grand entrance the old-fashioned way by ripping the Predator's chest from the inside.
And the humans? Only one survived. I can't hardly wait for the sequel where the Predator's are hunting an Alien in their own ship. And that will be the time when the question as to who will win - Aliens or Predators - wil lbe answered.
